Out of the ordinary (magic)

Journaling: Terrance was not fond of the snow. If something was cold and wet, he wanted nothing to do with it. When you live in Minneapolis, this simply isnt practical as there is usually snow on the ground from late October through April. Being a creative sort, Terrances mother made up clever stories about snowmen who wore magical scarves. She tried to coax Terrance out to the yard to build his very own snowman but, alas, Terrance steadfastly refused. This changed one snowy afternoon when Terrances mother presented him with two matching, knitted scarves. One, she said, was for the snowman they would build together. The other was for Terrance. She told Terrance that if he wore one scarf while the snowman wore the other, he would feel the tingle of the snowmans magic in his fingers. Finding the possibility of feeling magic very tempting, Terrance went out and built a snowman with his mother. The only problemTerrance refused to wear his snow boots! Instead, he insisted on wearing his summer sandals. As the snow wasnt too deep, his mother relented. After the snowman was built, his button eyes and pine cone nose neatly in place, Terrance wrapped one of the scarves around the snowmans neck. Terrance stepped back to admire the snowman and realized that his fingers AND his toes were tingling! Of course, Terrance was convinced that the snowman's magic was at work. His mother smiled. Maybe it was just the cold or maybe, just maybe there was still a little magic left in the world.

Process...
I started with a solid from AP MintBlizzard, then took a snowy fotoblendz and moved it to the top of the page. I clipped a paper to the FB from AP MintBlizzard. There is an artstroke overlay in MintBlizzard that is a vertical line over a horizontal line. I pulled that onto the page so I'd have a space to create the background. The background with the house and trees is the same photo twice. I used another snowy fotoblendz to mask the copies of the photo and then played with the blending modes so they took on the look of the background. Terrance was the easy part (though his left hand could use more refining). The MM Snowman is under Terrance. I added a bunch of random snow stuff including my favorite snowflake stitches (I hope you can see them in the background). I tried to balance the heavy journaling on the left with the title on the right.
