In another lifetime I sketched a lot, mainly faces, and now I want to get back into it again to incorporate into my digital art. Im practicing fundamental shapes to get my sketching muscles back. Ive included a couple of exercises I practiced on this page, the balls and boxes. I sketch both on paper and the iPad Pro with the Apple pencil using the Adobe Sketch app. I love it! I can send the sketch straight to my Mac and it opens the drawing automatically in PS. How cool is that!? Its so freeing!

Photos: MorgueFile
Notes: Starting with artsy paper 1 and bringing in two melange masks with the two photos, I placed these at the top of the page, resizing. I duplicated each photo and used the Poster Edges filter on the copies and blended to Overlay. With a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer on the background paper, I changed the yellow to match the cloth in the photo, so you couldnt tell where the photo ended and the artsy paper began. I typed out the title and word meaning and positioned it on the page.
Bringing in the psd watercolors from MM Art, I blended the pans to Color Burn and eliminated the layers I didnt want. The png pastels were added and a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer was used to change the yellow. I also did the same with one of the transfers I placed at the bottom of the page.
My sketches were placed on the page and blended to Linear Burn. From there I added art strokes, spackle texture, tape and word art, stains and splatters, mostly blended to Linear Burn. And finally the little beaded word was added with the little label at the bottom of the page.
