I'm working a family history project for my favorite Uncle. He grew up in predominantly Swedish household and was unaware of his mother's English roots. So I've been researching and discovering some fascinating factslike my greatx3 grandfather was a Texas Ranger during the civil war because he was too old to serve. His service is even documented in Texas Ranger's Historical Museum. J. W. Curtis protected the frontier and fought against the Comanche.
Photos from the web, the large illustration is by the Western artist Remington. And the paper is a log of TX Rangers and their territory. Also included a journal entry about the Comanche: The Comanche dreaded the Texas Rangers...whose guns were always loaded and whose aim was unerring; they slept in the saddle and ate while they rode or done witoutwhen they took up our trail they followed it determinedly and doggedly day and night.

Process notes:
I used up WaterColor Template Album No. 7A as my base. I wanted to create a weathered old leather look for my background, so I played around with a variety of tan & brown Solid papers from Annas kits. Finally settle on an arrangement from APPs Festal, Florence, BBQ and English Rose, varying the opacities and blend modes. I then began placing my photos and clipped them to the masks. I liked how the black stains added dimension, so I didnt recolor them. I used a variety of frames that had more of a Western look too. Because it has an old-time engraved look, I used the font Orantique for my head and subhead. Added a big stroke and shadow to the text. Copy completed my design.
Thanks for looking.
