The photo for the Color Challenge reminded me of my English Professor, Dr. Beatrice Ricks. She taught victorian literature and she had the most glorious flower garden. She also taught me about the language of flowers. After working on a research project for her, she gave me a floral dictionary. (This unfortunately I lost in a move.) Here's my artsy version of a " tussie-mussie."

The language of flowers, sometimes called floriography, is a means of cryptological communication through the use or arrangement of flowers. Interest in floriography soared in Victorian England and in the United States during the 19th century. Gifts of blooms, plants, and specific floral arrangements were used to send a coded message to the recipient, allowing the sender to express feelings which could not be spoken aloud in Victorian society. Armed with floral dictionaries, Victorians often exchanged small "talking bouquets", called nosegays or tussie-mussies, which could be worn or carried as a fashion accessory.

Process notes:
I used combined two papers from the APP Among Friends bundle, used the multiply blend mode and merged them together. I found some photos of pansies and created a pastel sketch effect using FX Photo Studio Pro. I brushed in lots of color to simulate the coloring of pansies. I added another pansy photo and applied a PhotoShop watercolor filter. I brushed in varying colors in the background using ArtsyPaint brushes. I added the flower from the bundle kit and set the opacity at 22%. I added some gold accents and squiggles. Placed the tag and text. The quote was the final touch.
