One of my all time favorite movies starring Gloria Swanson and William Holden. Release date was 1950. Because Gloria Swanson was a big silent screen star in her heyday, years later she revealed in an interview with Barbara Walters that people were afraid of her after Sunset Boulevard came out, thinking she was actually the delusional, pathetic Norma Desmond. Oddly enough, when I started this layout yesterday afternoon, Sunset Boulevard was playing on TCM, so I really got into it. I introduced yellow in the mix because Joe Gillis should have been cautious.

Joe Gillis, a down and out screenwriter, parked his car with a flat tire in the garage of what he thought was one of those old abandoned houses that movie stars built in the 20s. It was huge. Out of curiosity he climbed up the ornate stone steps to the front of the house where he saw a neglected weed ridden garden with an empty, rat infested swimming pool.
Joe was shocked when the front door opened and the butler bid him to come in. A voice from the upstairs window commands, why have you kept me waiting? Come up. Confused and trying to explain to the butler about the flat tire on his car and parking in the garage, but Max wasnt interested. He instructed him to go upstairs, Miss Desmond was waiting. Joe obeyed. Upstairs was silent screen star Norma Desmond and his life would never be the same again.
