Photoshop Elements 14
I positioned the photo of my daughters in the upper right quadrant, then blended out the parts I didn't want to feature with inverted masking, which always seems to me to leave a softer blended edge. I duplicated the photo on multiply mode and added transfers #6 and #4 over the top to disguise the grain and pixelation of the photo. The background (solid paper #3) went in next, and then I built up a landscape using three of the brushes in the pictorial brush set. Lots of other brushes, mostly in pinks and browns, and more transfers/overlays followed. I kept the embellishments simple, then added the journaling. Lastly, I wrinkled the word label with transfer #1, added gradient and levels adjustment layers, and ran the flattened file through an app on my cell phone.
I have to agree, doing a reverse mask creates a softer blend around the edges. I love this photo and the wonderful background you created with the brushes and the use of the transfers. Its a beautiful beachy page.

Love the two sisters sharing a quiet moment together! Gorgeous blending and brush work!
