Sophia & Hannah

Journaling: Sophias grand adventure last summer as an exchange student to Germany has given her priceless experiences and ties shell carry for a lifetime. I hope Hannah took away the same when she stayed with Sophia and family earlier in the year. Hannahs Mom and Dad took her in with open arms and grew to love her during her 3 week stay with them. She was absorbed in the culture as she would never have been if she was just a tourist looking in from the outside, never really understanding the way of life. When it came time to say goodbye, tears were shed by all. I am so grateful Sophia had this opportunity and that she lived with a loving family in Germany for a brief time. They have kept in touch ever since and that makes me happy because Germany is a part of Sophias heritage.

Notes: Solid paper 5 as the background and clipping the photo of the town to a png scenic photoblendz and blending the mask to Hard Light started the page. I used a reverse layer mask on the photo of the girls and brought them back out. Behind them I placed a layered fotoblendz and clipped an artsy card and using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, tweaked the yellows of the card to better match the photo of the buildings. I blended the mask to Color Burn. I duplicated the photo of the girls and put the copy on Overlay which enriched the colors. In-between the mask layer and the girls, I placed a transfer from the kit.

Over the photo of the buildings I placed another layered fotoblendz and duplicated the photo and clipped it to the mask and blended the mask to Color Burn.

I framed the photos using the roughly edged brushes, typed out the date and place and added their names and journaling. Below in the layers panel the harlequin brushes were placed with layer masks added and the chevron brush punched out the pattern. An art stroke and word art was added along with brushes from the kit in the upper right corner and lower left corner.

Last I added the butterfly, moving the shadow a bit and adding a layer mask, gave the wings a bit of a gradient for some dimension. And that finished the page.
Beautifully designed page! I love the added touches of colour given by the layered photoblendz/artzy kardz

Beautiful granddaughters! What a wonderful experience. Love the design and framing!

What a design--I particularly love how the photo is scaled to look a bit like a toy village, something that can be carried around forever, just like the memories, only in a pocket. Travel like that is priceless...my daughter is very close, to this day, with the community of kids she studied with in Australia for 6 months, and they travel all around the world to see each other. She is currently hosting the boy from Mexico now.... Heartwarming journaling here and beautiful composition.

Lovely girls and I'm sure they will remain friends for a long time; love the bold pattern the Roofs of the town create naturally along with the warmth of the roof tiles, you've blended everything together splendidly into a striking page!
