There is no question that the best place to get a panoramic view of Firenze is at Piazzale Michelangelo. The Piazzale was designed in 1869 as a tribute to Michelangelo by architect, Guiseppe Poggi. Poggi also designed a monument base dedicated to Michelangelo on which now stands a bronze replica of his David. Nearby, there is a restaurant and coffee bar, Ristorante La Loggia, which was originally designed as a museum for Michelangelos works. Given all the museums in the city, I was happy to have a place to sit, order a cappucino and enjoy the view. July, 2014
