I started with a black-and-white photo snapped of my daughter and grand-dog by my daughter's partner while hiking...I loved the photo and my idea was to keep the design rather stark. I added the background (solid paper #5 over solid paper #4 on linear burn mode), then the WordART. A host of brushes from the APP came next, several stamped in blue, and then I added most of the transfers/overlays from the Artplay Palette to develop a background that would create the suggestion of a landscape through color and texture. I had to do a lot of layer masking away of bits and pieces and hard edges to make all of that fit together seamlessly. I usually like to add a good share of embellishments, but the desire to remain true to the concept of stark won out in the end.
