Journaling reads: Some of my favorite sights at Zion National Park were the prickly pear meadows, with many of the plants fruited up in glorious red. Such an abundance of cacti thrilled this Yankee gardeners heart. We ate the cacti as nopalito but skipped the jelly. Well have to go back and try the margaritas. --September 2017

Notes in Photoshop Elements 14
This layout began with the positioning of the frame over the background paper. After adding my photos, I stamped a cactus brush in the center section and then repeated stamping brushes to form a photo mat under the frame. I recolored the sun charm and metal word to a golden tone and also made the wood word more woody by duplicating it and changing the blend mode to overlay.

To scuff up the edges, I applied a golden solid fill layer (on multiply mode) and then whisked off most of it with a blending brush. Lastly, I framed the edges of the page with the stitches.
oh how special to see cacti in bloom like that! love the use of the cactus brushes and that frame!

adore the mixture of photos and brushwork. yep, they're impressive, aren't they? oh, the jelly is kinda mild. they have prickly pear candy jellies that are kinda tasty, but the margaritas are the best way to enjoy them!

Wonderful aging effect! Has that lovely feeling of a vintage gardener's journal one might find in the attic or shed.
