Journaling reads: At Bryce we enjoyed nature's majesty from the top down. Here at Zion our view was reversed and we were looking from the bottom up. The geology is more complicated than this, but the short story is that the Virgin River was a major player in the erosion that cut through the rocks layers, eventually forming Zion's deep, narrow canyons. And the river is STILL excavating. It took us a while to comprehend this river's power. Compared to the mighty Hudson, this river looked so gracious, even benign. 9-27-2017

I started by blending my photo into Artsy Paper #3 flipped vertically (so that the bubbles were on the bottom), using inverted masking. I then painted over my photo with Artsy Transfer #1, using the layers to help me refine my blending job and fill out the mountains.

I then pulled in Artsy Transfer #5 within the layer stack to bring texture and depth to the sky and mountains. Because many layers of this transfer have a hard left-hand edge, I attached layer masks wherever I needed to soften the lines.

Then I added Artsy Transfer #4, primarily for the way the artstrokes interacted with the mountain.

Since I had covered a lot of my canvas with the Artsy Transfers, I grabbed a multimedia document file for my journaling, adding to the embellishments that came with that a few pieces from the Artplay Palette to finish up.
