I started with a textured paper base, then with an inverted mask I brushed a paper layer overtop, changing the blend mode to saturation. I opened up blending options and moved the sliders to allow more of the underlying layer to show thru the top layer, adjusting the opacity.I clipped the large photo to a layer of transfers and brush strokes that filled in some of the gaps of opacity. For the leaf element, I duplicated the layer a few times, changing the blend mode for each duplicate and brushing it overtop the original element layer to emphase different parts and put shadowing on a layer, erasing some of it off.
