This is the second retro magazine illustration layout with original caption. I believe I want to have these for some new wall art in my house. I love these illustrations so much, I want to see them all the time. And I think maybe one more is needed.

Caption reads: It was only by the strongest effort of control that he kept from taking her in his arms.

Notes: Starting with artsy paper 4 and bringing in the brumal mask and illustration, I clipped the illustration to the mask, resizing both mask and illustration to suit. I duplicated the illustration, blended to color burn with opacity of 11% to make it a tiny bit stronger on the page.

Grouping and bringing in the MM Lock and Key, I turned off the word art behind the lock and key and placed the magic sprinkles there instead. Underneath I typed out the title and used Blend Ifs and also blended to Linear Burn making the title take on the background textures. I added a button thread to hold down the key.

Taking bits and pieces of the artsy transfers and slipping them under and over the illustration on the right side in the layers panel, such as tapes, splatters and art strokes. More was added to the left side of the page.

Also on the left side the door stamp was added in a shade of brown taken from the kit and blended to Linear Burn. At the top of the door I added a word art transfer.

Typing out the caption and moving it around on the page, I liked it best at the bottom. And finally, with the watercolor 1, I stamped the heart shape lock, duplicated it a couple more times, gave it a bevel and emboss and turned down the fill opacity to zero to give the impression it is embossed into the paper. I placed it at the bottom of the stain just above the caption.
These illustrations are so awesome, indeed! And lovely presented on your wonderful page!

love this, so very evocative of times gone by, but also that romance & courtship haven't really changed much.

What a brilliant idea! I love old magazines, the adverts, the recipes, the fiction and usually the absolute sexism Lol! Love your page, beautifully crafted!
