The city hall of Delft is a building(ship) of Renaissance style being situated on the marketplace and in the face of(in front of) the new church of Delft. The building(ship) was the seat(siege) of the municipality of Delft and is used for receptions or formal events today. A part(party) of the building(ship) dates the xiiie century. A big part(party) of the building(ship) was built during the xive century. The city hall survived the big fire of 1536 which ravaged the city of Delft. On the other hand, the building(ship) is destroyed by the fire of March 4th, 1618. From 1618-1620, works of reconstruction and extension are begun(undertaken) supervised by Hendrick de Keyser, around the central tower.
