Kind of silly, but about my love affair with lilacs. Growing up in Chicago, they were in bushes everywhere so picking was easy and free. And there isn't a scent (I think) quite as lovely as lilacs. They need cold weather to grow and the lilacs we get in So. Calf. just aren't up to par w/those grown in cold climates and don't last as long. BUT that's not to say they're not worth getting as many bouquets as I can each spring to enjoy the site/smell/memories.
