Cafe Society

Here is my page for the most recent AnnaLift.

DH and I got back a week ago from a vacation to Chicago. I have eleventymillion photos from our seven days there, and no idea how I'm going to scrap them all. I suppose I'll eventually have to sit down and come up with a plan, like pick a set of templates or something, but for right now I'm having fun just choosing one or two pics from the pile and playing. That's my dh in the foreground, with a cute little cafe we stumbled upon in the background. We'd been out walking around the south Michigan Ave. area when we found this place and decided it would make a great pit stop. As we sat on its charming patio eating ice creams the cafe owner must have marked us as tourists (um, two cameras, a Lonely Planet guidebook and a city street map all on the table in front of us; I'd say we were hard not to miss! :) ) and he came over and introduced himself and delighted us with tales of the neighborhood. (Note to self: devote whole pages to the stories...this guy was wonderful...) The photo itself is not great quality; this is what happens when I try to be all sly and secretive and try to catch photo subjects in a natural pose. It turned out to be a great photo for playing with filters and blending modes, though, so with inspiration from the latest AnnaLift, that's what I did.

Okay, one down, eleventyninehundredninetyninethousadninehundredninteynine to go! :)

Thanks for stopping by!
Fabulous page and look forward to seeing more!! I always love reading your story!! I am planning a trip to the East Coast USA in Oct and hope to take eleventy million photos!!

Love what you did with the photo...and great story. One of my favorite things about Chicago is all the little neighborhoods that are self-contained.

Shirley, the photo effects here are stunning! Your painting technique on the cafe is FABULOUS, but I really LOVE the filter effects on the photo of your hubby! Almost looks like a pen and ink drawing! Brilliant composition! BTW, you scientists and all your jargon ... how much is eleventymillion to us lay people? ;-)

what a wonderful story. it's people like that shop owner who color a person's whole idea of a city! great photo, and love the map addition.

WOW if this is playing I cant wait to see the next gazillion pages! love the map and foreground photo! fantastic page!

The best plan on the photo's that need to be 'done':
forget the idea of an album and just play like this :-D

Your ONE down has turned out fabulous! Sounds like a wonderful trip and your AnnaLift is captures the travel/tourist perfectly! Love the touch of the should bag in the photo across his chest-That detail adds so much to your travel page!

SUPER cool contrast between b/w image of DH and scenic bg!

Shirley, I look forward to the next eleventyninehundredninetyninethousadninehundredninteynine!
