blue bird no.2

the last two pages i did, were done with the light leaks.
this one is done using my original technique which requires individual color layers.
with this version, the lines are not as soft and you have a little more control over the way the colors blend/merge.
either way, you can produce some nice effects.
my favorite subject when i do this is birds!

process...
Here is a link to the tutorial on Anna's blog explaining this process http://annaaspnes.typepad.com/anna/2010/07/layout-deconstructed-no-2.html. I work in sections. This piece has some layers that are individually shadowed to give the feathers a little more dimension. the splatters and loops help break up the space. I think I'd like to do this BIG just once. A 12x12 space always seems too small for a bird.

Thanks for looking :)
Adryane - your art is amazing - this is incredible and fantastic and stunning!!!!

So creative, so graceful! The soft effect is nice for skirts, but the crisp lines seem to be nicer for feathers.

Invites me in to study... I enjoy the color layers which add so much depth.... beautiful!

Beautiful Adryane, love the depth, this is definitely worthy of hanging on your wall!

I'm enjoying the attitude - the splay of feathers - almost like a flamenco dancer. Agree it would look wonderful on a bigger canvas. This is wonderful art!
