Bette Davis

This is from my limited edition postage stamp collection. It was issued in 2008 and its from the Hollywood Legends series, and Bette Davis certainly is a legend, no doubt about it. She is my all time favorite actress.

Notes: Starting with solid paper 1 and the MM Sashay, I opened the postage stamp sheet and with the rectangle tool I extracted a postage stamp from the sheet by right clicking on the rectangle and choosing layer via copy. I did the same with the large photo on the sheet.

I clipped the stamp into the frame of the MM and duplicated the clipping set two more times and moved the two sets, positioning one between two layers of the MM. I duplicated just the stamp one more times, positioned and blended. After adding the larger photo at the right edge of the page, I blended to Color Burn. Bringing in 2 psd ArtsyKardz, grouping them, I resized the photo and clipped it to a stain on the middle card and blended the stain to Linear Burn. On the card next to it I clipped a duplicate photo to the whole thing. I used the psd artsykard to give myself the flexibility to blend the layers if I chose.

Beneath these layers I added the artsy transfer and blended the leaves to make them a little lighter. Adding the title and journaling with a color taken from her glove, I used Blend Ifs to show the textures beneath. Bringing in the rose from one of the MM, I added the threads to keep the roses in place.

From there I used a variety of brushes to flesh out the layout. For example: I used a paper texture brush to soften the hard edge of the middle artsy card, used the new stains to bring the pink across the page and used the splatter brush with white. along the right edge of the right artsy card is a tape texture. The Hollywood brush, also in pink is underneath the title. Of course an art stroke was added for good measure.
Your layout feels glamorous like Hollywood in the good old days! Lovely tribute to your fave!

Don't know how you came up for the idea for this series but love the idea and the execution.

I find this layout so fascinating and very beautifully created. I love the Old Hollywood days and actresses and actors. I love how you have blended in Bette's face and profile so delicately. You're a masterful artist with this style.

Wonderful, Barbara! Love the blending! Now I'm singing "She's got Bette Davis Eyes!"

I never realized that she was so short! She has such a big, larger than life presence - love the page!
