Journaling Challenge
Journaling: Beginnings . . . Well, I think I will start with the beginning of my life. I was born in Lansing, Michigan about 30 miles South of St. Johns, where I grew up. I am always amazed that I weighed 10# when I was born. I was very thin throughout my school age years. To the point of people teasing me about being a stick, bony knees, etc. I digress, going on. This photo looks like I am still pretty chubby, but arent babies supposed to be??
I was born, 2nd child, 1st daughter in a family of 4 children. My brother is 3 years older than I am. One of the things that sticks in my mind is that he was always better than I was at everything. I tried so hard to beat him. On a rare occasion I was successful. They say that having failures in your life sets you up to do well in old age, as you have learned to cope with failures. I should be an awesome old person!!!
Mom and Dad where older, for their generation, when they started having children. Mom was almost 31 on my birth date. They had been married for almost10 years before my brother was born. Because of this, most of our cousins are older than we are. Dad was 11th of a family of 16 children. Even his 5 younger siblings had older children. One of my cousins was my Dads age. I always thought of her as an aunt rather than cousin. Mom was the youngest girl in a family of 6 children. Ours was a small family by comparison, with only 4 children. Written December, 2016
