You look at this APP and you think of water of course. For me it is our amazing coast. So I went looking in my photos for beach photos. When I found this picture of the Old Orchard Beach Pier I felt I had something I would like to work with.

Process

I used Brush 13 from the kit for the mask. I felt the grunginess matched the photo. I added Solid Paper 5 to the page. I then added Overlay 2 on the side and duplicated it so along with Transfer 3 in the upper corner it created a nice cloud look to the background. I used Overlay 3 on the right side for a splash of water. Then I played with Frame 2 placing the top edge on the frame on the bottom of the page. I duplicated it twice and moved each copy to the right side and left side. I thought it created a wave like look. I merged the layers and used a motion blur on it and using levels and opacity reduced the opacity for a very light look. I added Edge Overlay not to the page but to the using linear burn blend mode and erasing away the corner where there is no mask.

For elements I started with the fish. One is on the outside of the picture. The second is on a layer above the picture with an Overlay blench mode. the third is under the mask. This gives the impression they are swimming under the pier. Then I added the umbrella from the Stained Scribble brushes in a bright yellow and placed it between the two chair. Then I added the tape and gave the tape a shadow. But I clicked on the fx and clicked on create a layer so the shadow is now on it's own layer. The I selected the shadow and modified the selection my contracting it by 5 pixels. Then I clicked on delete to leave just a thin out strip for the shadow.

I used the one of the Swimming-WordArt sayings but erased the word "pool" and replaced it with beach on a separate layer. I tilted the beach layer so there was no trapped spaced and used the font Pretty Girl Script to match the lopey look of the word happiness on the word art. At this point I felt I needed one more element and so added Urban Threads 10.11.
This photo makes me hungry for a lobster dinner, and it's just only past breakfast here.

NICE! Love the surreal fish, and the yellow umbrella. Clever use of those touches! Appreciate your comprehensive notes, too.
