Bailey Bears

One of my dearest friends, Janet, teaches first grade. Her 20 something daughter is the choir director at a middle school near me. Janet always takes her entire class to her daughter's school musicals. I go along to help her keep the kiddos together. The play is held in the school cafeteria and this is the art splashed all over the back wall. I loved it and had to capture it. Th play was Singing in the Rain Jr.; it mesmerized the short ones. They loved it. And, most of the kids bought big dill pickles as a snack during intermission instead of candy. I wonder if it's a regional thing?

Journaling: THE BAILEY BEARS
This bright art covers the cafeteria walls in Bailey middle school. Of course, their mascot is a bear. I tried to find out who the artist was, but no one knew. But with its bright colors, fun and funky design, its perfect to inspire the creativity of 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

Process notes:
I opened the template, placed my photos and clipped them to the masks. I re-colored the large stain/mask behind the row of photo to better match the photos. Added the title, the schools mascot and block of copy. Centered the clipped photos and accents to balance the layout. Thats it, easy peasy.

Thanks for looking.
A wonderful colorful page. Shows that a good template and good pictures produce a great page.

Fantastic page to document the art work. What a great idea to inspire the kids. Love the colors you used.

Love how schools are filled with pride and inspiration! Love the bright colors an block design!

Have to ask...were those pickles fried? That's a snack that's big in some parts of NY and I can never get my head around it. Totally fun page, and I also love art and murals in schools!
