Autumn and Barley

Journaling: Barley was a pound dog and adopted when he was a puppy with long and gangly legs, by the family. Hes part German Shepard and something else. But more importantly, he made himself a part of the family immediately, never wanting to be apart from them, growing up with the girls. He follows them through the orchard and into the surrounding hills when they go exploring over grounds hes already been many times, to take part in the photos they take. He expects to be included, and he is. There is nothing like a beloved dog to teach you the meaning of unconditional love, and Barley is that in spades.

Process Notes: This is a straightforward layout without anything fancy done with it. I chose solid paper 2 from the Joyful Palette and added the Page FotoBlendz over it, leaving it the original size. I brought in the photo after making it black and white and clipped it to the FotoBlendz. I resized the photo and positioned it to how I wanted Autumn and Barley framed and put the Blendz on Linear Burn at 100% opacity. I duplicated the photo, and using the Gaussian Blur pushed the blur up to 20, then turning down the opacity of that photo layer to 20%, creating a softness to the photo.

Adding the word art, I clipped one of the palette transfers to it, blending it to Color Burn and 100% opacity. I typed out the rest of the word art using the AuraBlue font. Below I added the journaling in Traveling Typewriter font.

I added overlays from the Palette at the top of the page and on the right side below Autumn and outlining the journaling as well as more word art within the overlays on the right.

To finish it off, I placed the loopdaloop to frame the journaling, putting the urban threads under the hinge, hearts and brad as well as the banner at the top of the page. Under the banner I placed a warm glow, blending and turning down the opacity. I added their names and date over the word art on the right side of the page. That finished this layout.
What a sweet and great photo, I love the mask that you've used for the photo, the colors mach perfect together, what a great journaling, a gorgeous page!

Absolutely beautiful--this is a perfect expression of how I feel about Charley, my 17-year-old pooch. Particularly enamored of the swirly, spattery stuff on the bottom half.
