I saw the Arizona woodpecker at the orange feeder and learned that this love for sweet fruit is not unusual among woodpeckers. I also learned that the Arizona woodpecker's range is in the Madrean Sky Islands.

Handsome bird! Woodpeckers are my favorites. We don't see much fruit-loving here, although the Great Northern Flicker prefers the orange-flavored suet. As always, detailed, fabulous spread. Definitely "honors the photo."

The birds are beautiful, but very noisy when they take over a tree in your yard. I know...one lived in my tree in Tucson.
