Journaling:
There was snow with places of vermillion mud and sheets of it flowing across the road from fast melting. Remember finding places with snow to step out of the Jeep, and people howling like wolves up in the rocks.

Navajo people were howling. We thought it was very playful and I howled back. Got better at it with practice. Loved being in a place where howling made some sort of sense.
