Its a very long way to anywhere in this country. We bridge the distance in 4WDs by taking off on weekends and holidays to the beach or to our nearest national park. When we hit retirement age and have more time at our disposal we hit the road with caravans and circumnavigate the whole country. It was a grey nomad, as we term such caravanners, that found this billabong out the back of somewhere. He stopped to camp and fish. Picture postcard perfect with gums overhanging and clear water. Friends on their way to join them. It was a day or twos drive from their last camp. And everywhere about one could feel the footprints of the Dreamtime.
