Anna Crossover: Cowboy Cameraman

I was researching some family history and came across this name. Edward Curtis was an American photographer of the West and of Native American peoples. Not sure if we're related, I'm asking my super sleuth cousin to find out.

J.P. Morgan gave him $75,000 to create a series on the American Indian in 1906. The project took him nearly 20 years. For Curtis, the project was not simply a photographic diary, but a complete cultural survey. He made over 10,000 wax cylinder recordings of language and conversation, wrote thousands of notes on everything from tribal lore to architecture and took over 40,000 photographs.

This was his self-portrait, also included a photo Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce.

Used APP Festival and Fare.

Thanks for looking.
Wow! This is incredible. I adore your page, the photos, the framing, the ephemera, and I do so hope he is a relative. What a discovery; pure gold!

Let us know if it ends up you are related! love his photo, he really looks like what I think a cowboy should look, love that he saved so much! awesome fantastic!

Yes, the eyes. And I love how the light comes from behind the photo.
