I have no idea what year I got this egg and book. From the picture, I suspect we were at the new house, so at least 1983. For years, I remembered the book and the egg and when I had a child of my own and found the book one Spring at the store, I bought it. I still love it today. In the story, the country bunny wants very much to be an Easter bunny. But she grows up to have lots of children. Shes a good mother though, and teaches her children to be polite, kind, and responsible. But one year, a new Easter bunny is being sought. Cottontail goes with her children to the Palace and proves that she is kind, wise, swift, and clever, and she wins a spot as an Easter bunny. She is given the task of delivering a very special egg to a sick boy. Cottontail also proves that she is brave and receives a very special set of gold shoes to help her bring happiness to the boy. This story has always stuck with me...it is the kind of person I aspire to be.
