We cannot live life without considering the afterlife. Life can be grueling at times, but we can still enjoy it! Life passes too quickly so each day needs to be savored!

I worked on the house to prepare for the coming week when I will be cooking 2 turkeys on separate days...Thursday and Sunday...for Mark’s family to join us. I still need to do more work, but it is started. So, after working all day on Saturday, Mark and I enjoyed our evening devotions down at the cabin and then played Qwirkle afterwards. It was nice to enjoy the evening and relax from the work we did through the day.

The character Falstaff in Henry IV, Part 1 says, "Let us take the good of this world, as the wise man saith, 'Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die’” - William Shakespeare

This phrase is a direct quote from Isaiah 22:13 and represents a philosophy of living for the moment without concern for the afterlife. Paul uses it to highlight the futility of a life of suffering if there is no future hope, emphasizing that his sacrifices would be for nothing.

If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 1 Corinthians 15:32

Paul's point: If the resurrection is not real, then there is no future hope, no divine justification, and no reason for suffering and sacrifice. His argument is that a life lived for the resurrection is worthwhile, but a life without it is not.
