Adventuring

This layout is a composite of three photos that gives the idea of our surroundings on this particular photo shoot. It popped into my head while framing my shots that I should create some photos for no other reason than to use to blend into a composition, and thats exactly what I did. Photos of rocks arent particularly interesting, but they are great to blend into a layout.

Journaling: Autumn suggested we should go up the Icicle Adventuring with our cameras as she likes to call it. I didnt care where we went, I just love spending time with her. She thought I should really learn to use the DSLR I bought myself last summer. I can run circles around a film SLR, but the terminology/settings of a digital camera is new to me. She gave me several pointers about where the settings are located and that got me understanding it better. It was windy and cold up there, but we enjoyed adventuring together. Then we went to the bakery in town.

Process Notes: Because the sky had turned very dull during the photo shoot I decided to use artsy paper 1 for my foundation and brought in the three photos. I sized and positioned them into the composition I wanted. I turned off the visibility of the photo of Autumn and the rocks and worked with the mountain photo first. The full page mountain photo was placed over the paper and with the gradient tool, I blended away the bottom then blended the photo to Multiply. I duplicated the photo with the copy on Multiply also.

Turning the visibility on of the photo of Autumn and using a reverse layer mask, I brushed her back in using AnnaBlendz brushes. I did the same on the photo of the rocks, leaving both of them on Normal.

I brought in artsy transfers and used bits and pieces in the gaps then added tapes and tissue textures throughout the layout for texture that matched the terrain and sky. I added art strokes, stains and splatters here and there.

Created the title with a three part font, added the journaling, date and little label that I blended to Color Burn. Then from the Sunflower APP, I stamped the word art brush and blended to Overlay. I tucked in the word art transfer between photo in the layers panel.

The mountain in the background is called Sleeping Lady, a part of the Icicle Ridge in the Cascade Mountains.
Great work Barbara, love the beautiful photo and blending, the big text on the left side looks gorgeous, also very creative, an awesome page!!

Ohhh, my how gorgeous is this - beautiful blending of the three photos - amazing ;)

You have beautifully captured the mood of this wonderful time with Autumn. Great idea to take photos for other uses (blending). Love the repetition of the yellow and how you framed the journaling with more words/wordart.

Really gorgeous Barbara! love how the paper blends in with the photo and creates such a masterpiece!

Beautiful photo and page! Isn't it fun to be learning from the younger generation!
