Abandoned

This is one of those family photos I've scrapped before but wasn't satisfied. Here's another go at it!

Text:
Kansas City, Missouri, 1911. A college-educated man
abandoned his wife and six children, moved away, and
started a new family. My Great-Grandmother baked
bread to support her family and my Grandfather,
the oldest son, delivered it. He was 12 years old
when his father left. After decades with
no contact, the missing father called
and asked if he could see his grandchildren.
The request was denied.

What a story! Love your title work and the beautiful vintage photo! A masterpiece, Marnie!

Poor woman, she must have had such a hard life but what a beautiful family! The use of the colour block lends drama and really focuses the eye on those wonderful faces, love the title work too!

Great page Marnie! Love how you blended the photo!
Thanks for sharing the story ...

love how your background adds a sense of "churning." it mimics the solemnness of the family situation.

What a story! Everything about this page is superb. I adore the title work.

Geez, this is stunning visually, and that story...well it packs a punch. Having a family history filled with more thorns than roses, I'm always affected by the reminder that just because it's "heritage" doesn't mean its sweetness and light. People were human then just as they are now.
