A Beautiful Campsite
We would go back. It was a beautiful campsite right on White Owl Lake. We even had a meadow full of wildflowers. It was quite cool and there was frost the first morning. We wore sweaters and lots of insect repellant to fend off clouds of mosquitos. At 10,767 feet, it was the highest we'd ever stayed. We stayed for five nights in spite of low readings on the oxymeter. The RV fridge wouldn't light because of the lack of oxygen, but our propane stoves worked fine. Remember the snowfield above the lake and amazing sparkles on the water in the evening when the sun was at the right angle and there was a nice breeze. Remember the campfire we made with a log cut in the 70s that needed splitting, and the white-crowned sparrows that sang in the tree eight feet from our window, before sunrise and long after sunset.
