22nd Birthday

My daughter Rachel and her best friend Aubrey have been inseparable since the 3rd grade. This photo was taken at Aubreys 22nd birthday party.

The Process: There is something about this kit that made it very easy for me to complete this page. The difficulty I had with the page was the coloring of the photo, and choosing which Artsy Paper from the new ArtPlay to use for the back-drop. I kept trying the different papers, and every one of them would have been wonderful as the background paper. I actually had tried all but one of the papers, and had zeroed in on the one I was going to use, and then, just for grins, I tried the one paper I didnt think would work, and fell in love with it. I added a number of transfers and brushes to either side of the paper, and because of the pink in the photo, I added a bit of pink hues to tie it all together. The photo gave me some difficulty in that the background was reddish brown too much with both girls hair colors and the kit colors, so using two layers of photos, I make the bottom layer black and white, and painted in the girls, so that the background in the photo did not clash. I loved the bits of dots in the transfers, so I decided to mimic it with the button, which I copied, changed its size and rotation, and then placed it here and there on the paper. Just before I decided it was finished, I took one of the new fotoblendz, and placed it behind the framed photo, and changed it to the pink. I feel it anchored things just a bit. I have to say that I really LOVE this kit especially the transfers and brushes which were so fun to play around with.
