We have been looking for 3 birds since day one - we thought the 3rd would be the charm however we only saw the bananaquit and heard the western spindalis but nothing of the vireo but as the photo shows there were lots of eyes and ears - and yes they played the songs in hope of drawing out the birds but it did not happen.

Oh, Nancy, the photo of the trail is a great focus and evocative of your frustration. But isn't that all too often how it goes? Wish it hadn't been so annoying!

Including the map was an excellent idea--works so nicely with the photos, too. The "seek and find" of birding can be so exciting but also so frustrating. We have sat in bird blinds for hours with no results...but it's always a good excuse to go back.

Nice touch including the map, sorry that your search for the birds was a bit annoying, but you managed to capture great photos anyway!

Love your title! Birds can be elusive, however, I do find that the ones that start chirping 4:30 in the morning are very annoying!
