I often use BW photos because I like their atmosphere. I converted my originally coloured photo to black and white based on this tutorial on Anna's blog: http://annaaspnes.typepad.com/anna/2012/05/tutorial-channel-mixer-black-and-white-conversion-.html
I used a transfer as a photomask and clipped the photo to it. On the areas where I wanted to see the original transfer, I masked the photo. I put some transfers onto the photo, too, clipped them to the "photomask" transfer.
Finally I added some "3D" elements and word transfers to embellish the page and rotated the whole composition a little bit. On the ribbon I applied realistic drop shadow from this tutorial: http://annaaspnes.typepad.com/anna/2012/04/tutorial-realistic-drop-shadows.html
