My Purpose as a Child of God
Journaling reads: This is a summary of my purpose of life as a child of God. In Christian theology, the purpose of life is multifaceted, but basically, my purpose is to glorify God in all that I do and enjoying Him forever. That is catechism #1. This involves a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, reflecting His character in all that I do and say, and contributing to His kingdom on earth. The BIBLE is our guide book…..Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
1. Glorifying God - "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • Everything exists for God's glory, and therefore, my life should be lived in a way that honors Him. This includes aligning my thoughts, actions, and desires with God's will as revealed in the Bible by living righteously, loving others, and sharing the Gospel. My purpose is to point others towards Jesus Christ, who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one will enter heaven unless they receive forgiveness through His work on the cross in paying for their sins.
2. Enjoying God - "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
  • The Christian life is not simply about duty or obligation, but also about experiencing joy and fulfillment in a relationship with God. Finding joy in God, as revealed through Jesus Christ, is a key aspect of the Christian purpose. This involves developing a deep and personal relationship with God through prayer, worship, and studying Scripture. "Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy” 1 Peter 1:8

3. Reflecting God's Image - “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding (reflecting) the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another (it’s a process). For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
  • Humans are created in God's image, and Christians strive to reflect His attributes in their lives. This includes cultivating virtues like love, compassion, forgiveness, and justice, as exemplified by Jesus Christ. By living in accordance with these values, Christians demonstrate God's character to the world.
4. Participating in God's Kingdom - "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
  • Christians believe that God is restoring His broken creation through Jesus Christ, and we are called to participate in this work. This involves actively working for justice, serving others, and sharing the Gospel, all in anticipation of God's ultimate victory over evil. Ultimately, my Christian purpose is about contributing to God's eternal kingdom and experiencing the fullness of life in His presence.
In summary, my Christian purpose of life is about aligning myself with God's plan, finding joy in Him, reflecting His character, and participating in His work of redemption and restoration.
