I pictured the angel of the Lord (actually Jesus Christ pre-incarnate) speaking to Jacob on his journey from his home in the land of Canaan to his mother's family in Padanaram. He promised Jacob He would be with him and make a great nation of him and through his seed all the families of the earth would be blessed (because of Jesus). Later on, the Lord changed Jacob's name to Israel when Jacob returned to his father's house some 20 years later.
