Hello, O-fam! How are you all today?
I feel like I should change the font color to an orangey-brown this morning. If you live on the East Coast, you know the exact color that I mean, you are seeing it out of your window. It was wild and not in a good way when the smoke blew in yesterday. We knew it was coming down from Canada but it still took everyone by surprise. It was a little hazy in the morning, no worse than a humid day in the summer. I was out with the dogs around 1 and you could see the haze getting a little thicker. An hour later, everything was orange and smelled like the whole town was on fire. I said to Gary that I *knew* the haze was from the wildfires but the smokey smell was so strong that I hoped there wasn't another local fire. Apparently, everyone on Facebook was wondering the same thing- hahah! Every other post was about it.
When there was that large, several-day wildfire here last month, it didn't look or smell as bad as this. I feel awful for the people in Quebec, I can't imagine how it is for them.

I ended up scrapping a little yesterday. My knee is still hurting from last week. Now I am convinced that I have Lyme again. I am so hyper-focused on every muscle ache or joint pain. I don't feel Lyme-y at all (although I did have that week in May when I didn't feel great). It was smart to stay inside anyway since I would have been out there breathing that awful air.
The kids are heading home this afternoon. From what Caitlyn has texted me, it sounds like they are having a good time. I know the rats miss her, even Otter was coming up to me a lot, and she usually stays away from me.

I have to pick up my groceries and make sure that I am caught up on laundry so they have full access to that tomorrow. While I am doing that, I am going to try not to cough up a lung. Between high pollen and air quality alerts, even *I* don't want to be outside. 90*F and 90% humidity, not a problem. This air?? Heck, no!

WWW
I wish the weather was better and I wish that the wildfires would stop.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

@vickyday Isn't that squirrel video the best?? I can't tell you how many times I have watched it and I LMBO every time. The way he flings his arms out to the sides and drops his head. OMG toooo funny!
I usually tell people (ie. my mom) to stay away from Googling medical info (and I admit, I do it myself ;)) but dang if every symptom you found doesn't sound spot on. I hope that if that is what you have that it can be fixed easily.
It sounds familiar, I wonder if it was something that they thought Gary had? I know he has been tested for gastroparesis. Or maybe I am thinking of the esophageal valve/flap that Caitlyn had issues with? I hope this means you are on the path to feeling better.

@taxed4ever bet your hair looks amazing, hope you got nice and pampered yesterday.
15? Isaaic is gonna be 15? And driving soon?:lalala:
I called my parents yesterday and they seemed "better." Mostly because he was on his way to PA to (get this!) cut the grass (argh!!!!) and she was planning on puttering about the house by herself. *slaps forehead*
Are you ready for your hike today? Have a great time!

Drat!! Gotta post and run! Unexpected phone call and now I am super late xoxo

I know you can't trust everything when Googling stuff. I was getting basically the same info from anywhere I read. Most of my info came from the National Institute of Health. But my final "authority" will be my doctor when the test results come back and I can talk to her.

Quick in and out today as my daughter is headed my way to pick me up. We are going to a "bin" store where everything is $1. I'm not crazy about the shopping but it means I will get to spend some time with my daughter! She is always so busy through the school year that I take every opportunity afforded me during her summer months of vacation to spend time with her. And if that means riding along with her to a bin store, so be it! It is raining here again today! I hope it is washing away some of the hazy skies we had yesterday. I assume we are getting some of the smokiness from Canada, too.
Have a great day!

Morning everyone! A quick post from me today as I need to get going on my hike. It is warm and not a cloud in the sky. Sorry that you are all getting smoke from the fires in Quebec, it sounds like it is really bad!! No smoke for us for a change, the wind must be blowing it all to you out east. I just wanted to pop in to say hello and hope that you are all having a better less smokey day today! Will catch up with everyone tomorrow! Gotta Go :eek3:

Good morning ladies. It's hot and sunny today (up to 90s). Wed morning is coffee group at the park and we'll be going to a different park today, one of my faves for duck photos. I'll go a bit early to get some photos before sitting down to chat for a few hours. Then home to do chores and play outside with Remi with the sprinkler on to cool her.

I got some keto cookbooks at value village yesterday so want to browse thru those to do a bit of menu planning. I am getting so lazy these days, not cooking much so hopefully I'll find a few recipes that inspire me. I spent over 3 hrs organizing books, photo albums and games in the room downstairs yesterday afternoon. This afternoon I'll tackle a few cabinets downstairs and see what I can purge. I need to watch for a sale on keurigs. I want to put one downstairs for our book club mtg and I'll pick up a kettle. I may start up a card game group in the fall, so my room downstairs will start to get more use.

As for your talk of googling medical advice, I am of the opposite mind. We don't have doctors here so we have to rely on google for info and hopefully find some relief from self care. The online doctor can only help with medication renewals and not much else. The emergency room is for straightforward treatable things like broken bones/cuts, heart conditions if you survive the many hours' wait to be seen, obvious ailments that they can easily treat and get you out of there, etc. If you are lucky, you can get a referral to a specialist but that can take months. D finally got an appt for July to see a GE doctor, he's been waiting over a year for the appointment. Crazy, right? Now you know why I am afraid to live here. I watch the medical series on tv and shake my head with wonder b/c those scenarios are like a fantasy here, treatment and care like that doesn't exist. I try not to freak out, that is just the way it is and thankfully I am healthy at the moment and try hard with diet and exercise to stay that way.

@faerywings Hopefully you won't be out too long and not feel the effects of the smoke/pollen too much.

@vickyday Hope you find some deals at the bin store.

Remi is staring and whining, time to go play :) HAGD everyone.

Hiiii, I'm back! :wavinghello:
My friend called and needed some advice. Not really advice, just someone to listen. Then I had to race to pick up groceries because my time slot was almost over. Then I raced back home because my eyes were burning so badly. It's really awful.

Quick personals for yesterday

@LSlycord I am thrilled for you being able to get to the beach to see the sun rise. What a great way to get yourself balanced and grounded for the day.
I know you said before, but whooosh~~~ it went out of my brain-- where is your cruise?
GAHHHH!!!!! I love that photo of Syd!!!! Have you scrapped it yet? You have toooooooo

@bcgal00 hope that you and Remi had a fun trip out!

@Kythe It's always so nice when you pop in! yeah, that flyswatter :flyswatter: looks dangerous haha!

Good afternoon ladies. I started my morning at the beach...then had to be back home at my desk by 7:30 for a conference call! But it definitely puts me in a mindset of gratitude when I start at the beach. We went out to supper last night with the foodie group so that was fun. Tonight is devoted to CT responsibilities. Spent some of my lunch hour on the phone FaceTiming with Syd. Vet put Andie on a diet and Syd has lots of opinions about how we are doing that. :rotfl:

@faerywings our December cruise is in the Carribean. Before long, I may need to focus on that! Time is going way too fast. And, yes, I am anxious to scrap that photo of Syd in the little car.

@taxed4ever hope you have a great hike today!

@bcgal00 now that we don't have a pool in the backyard, I may need to get a sprinkler for Andie and Hayden!\

@vickyday enjoy the time with your daughter...I know that you will!

Good morning! I did NOT make it in here yesterday - bad Cheryl. I don't know what happened to my day. I'm going to try to catch up with yesterday first:

"@Cherylndesigns Isn't that the way it goes, rip apart a room to find something and end up finding everything *except* what you were looking for??
I know that I have shared the stories of my dog destroying several couches. I'd sit on the floor forever if I could have her back. :brokenheart:
I am going to tell Gary about the Meclizine. I am already nervous about how he is going to be able to last through the wedding.

As much as I complain about the water pressure here and worry about droughts, I love the way my well water tastes."

Yes, that happens all the time, but it's fun to find the unexpected and like somebody else said, you just find things to get rid of. I threw quite a bit away - now watch me need them next week. Bwahaha.

I do hope the Meclizine helps Gary - it sure does me. He's going to need it as the wedding activities pick up. I love the taste of well water, too - it's SO cold! I don't want to drink city water either and Linda @LSlycord you said yours wasn't good. We didn't have good water to drink in FL either. We've always had a filter on our cold water in the kitchen sink and our fridge has filtered water. And Chris @faerywings non-dog people would think we were crazy, wouldn't they???

"@Cherylndesigns - I often clean out my entire craft room looking for something specific and never find what I am looking for, it is so frustrating!! However it does make me toss some things that I just don't need. LOL"

Trudy @taxed4everI was thinking it was you who talked about looking for something and tossing things - I did that, too. It was a good excuse to get rid of some junk.

Kay @BrightEyes I guess I missed your post. But everybody seemed excited that you stopped in here. Miss you, girl.

Vicky @vickyday hope you're feeling better today - I'm sure that test took the wind out of your sails for a day or so. Glad it's over - now to wait and see if they can help you.

I'm going to cut this short because I have lots to do. Hugs to everyone and HAGD.

No deals for me at the bin store. And it wasn't all it was made out to be.....the advertising in the window says "Wednesday....$1" but what they don't tell you is that the items for $1 are NOT the clothes, shoes and lots of other stuff they have around the store. The actual bins for the $1 are very few and NOT anything very good!

I'm back!
When I got home from the bin shopping with my daughter I ran to the grocery store. And when I got back I opened up my gmail to find I had test results back on My Chart!

So I don't have to rehash everything I blogged, if you are interested or so inclined, you can read about the results here:
she was unwilling.....but God. I think it is good news! If you read it and come to the same conclusion, tell me! Or give me your thoughts on what you think it means!
Thanks and Hugs to all!

@vickyday I agree with what you and @bcgal00 said...good news! They may suggest some dietary changes although you are pretty limited there already and may increase the frequency of future colonoscopies but that's all really good news!
