In German-speaking Europe, Christmas biscuits are a very important part of this festive season. Every region has its own types of biscuits.
In Switzerland, the ‘Mailänderli’ or ‘gâteau de milan’ is the most commonly baked and eaten Christmas biscuit. What this biscuit has to do with Milan is unknown. In any case, this biscuit is not known in Italy.
The recipe first appeared in a Basel cookbook around 1780.
It is my husband's favourite Christmas biscuit and the design for this year's Christmas card.

The variety of European biscuits is fascinating! The focus on the star biscuit using a mask and stitched circles works beautifully. Adding the baking elements with red adds a nice bright festive note to the layout. I love the textures in the paper also. Beautiful and delicious!

I particularly like scrapbooking because it allows you to tell everyday stories visually, which is not always easy.
Told ‘only’ verbally, they would be mundane, but scrapbooking gives them an artistic touch.

This is a beautiful page Nia.. Love that you are getting into the holiday baking mode :) I love the rolling pin element to accent the masked photo of the cookie star cutter and dough. Love the design for your holiday card Perfection!

Love the horizontal design with the star biscuit in the center. I'm thinking of putting a recipe book together and am gathering ideas. I like the concept of telling stories through cooking. Great page!

I've been thinking about making my son a cookbook with his favourite recipes for quite some time now.
Last Christmas, he asked for some good cooking knives and spice, and when he's here, he wants to cook with me (again) and learn his favourite recipes.
I'm curious to see how you design your cookbook pages.
I'm still in the process of collecting recipes :(.
