Sizing Layouts for Gallery Viewing

Vivienne & VanessaShop How To's, Tutorials, ,

Getting your layouts to fit the gallery sizing requirements can be frustrating. We mostly create full size layouts for printing purposes, 12×12 inches and at 300 ppi (pixels per inch) which comes out to 3600×3600 pixels. For web purposes and galleries, you don’t need it that large in size. You can resize it to a much smaller size because it takes less information to show the image on a screen. Here is the way to make it smaller for web gallery purposes.

LAYOUT SIZING

Take your regular 3600×3600 layout.

Be sure that you CHECK Scale Styles, Constrain Proportions, and Resample Image.

Replace 3600 with 600. Both Width and Height should change to 600×600.

You will see the Pixel Dimensions change in size.

Then if the size is still not small enough, replace Resolution of 300 ppi with 72 ppi. 72 ppi is the ideal size for websites. The pixels of width and height will change again. This drops the size further to fit the gallery rules. You can see the before and after Pixel Dimensions in the top of the box.

That’s it. Easy Peasy.

For the Oscraps gallery, in the rules HERE, you can see the sizing information. 600X600 is recommended but you can go up to 864×864 with a maximum size of 250kb.
